It has been a wonderful adventure this year, from the snowy mountains of the Swiss Alps, chasing an ill-gotten creature in Frankenstein– to the deserts of Texas, running from a nihilistic hitman in No Country for Old Men – to the fertile Salinas Valley on the California coast, wrestling with our humanity in East of Eden– and finally we opened the door to new possibilities and anxiously wrestled with what we might be leaving behind in A Doll’s House.

After our a 12 month journey through the Dostoyevsky novel A Brothers Karamazov in 2024, I was encouraged but uncertain if the group of 10-12 odd friends I had collected was going to want to continue the journey I was on.
But they did, and I am excited for 2026. I don’t seem to know exactly where the book stack is going to take us but here is a rough idea of the year.
Antigone // January
The Great Gatsby // February
A Brave New World // March/April
Slaughterhouse Five // June
Little Women // July – Oct
I’m not exactly sure were to go after that. There has been some discussion about venturing into some southern gothic, or murder mystery and I would love to venture back into Russian literature, probably Tolstoy next time. Maybe some Jane Austen?
I am also committing to writing regularly this year about the books we’re reading, but I also want to venture out into other books and films that I touch on throughout the year.
So here is to a wonderful 2026, and I hope to see you often.
