This novel also reintroduced us to the anxiety of change, Sheriff Bell’s monologues guiding us along the way pontificating on his concerns for the way society has changed and his inability to find his place in those changes.
I had watched the film before I read the book. And while I love the Cohen Brothers film and will admit it is a faithful adaptation of the novel. There are some amazing scenes in the novel that didn’t make the film. Particularly Sheriff Bell’s memory of his experience in Germany during World War 2, as well as the conversations between Moss and the Hitchhiker.
